Preambuła amerykańskiej Konstytucji stwierdza: „My, Naród Stanów Zjednoczonych, w celu tworzenia doskonalszej unii, ugruntowania sprawiedliwości, zapewnienia spokoju wewnętrznego, umożliwienia wspólnej obrony, popierania ogólnego dobra i zagwarantowania wolności dla nas samych i dla naszych potomków...”. Jednoznacznie, paraliżując pracę rządu i blokując uchwalenie ustawy, GOP postąpił wbrew przysiędze zapewnienia spokoju wewnętrznego i popierania ogólnego dobra. Wręcz przeciwnie, stworzył wewnętrzne zamieszanie i chaos publiczny.
Konstytucja definiuje zakres władzy każdej gałęzi rządu. Ojcowie Założyciele do najważniejszych uprawnień Kongresu zaliczyli pobieranie podatków, płacenie rachunków i – w razie potrzeby – zaciąganie pożyczek. Obstając przy swoim uporze Kongres sparaliżował pracę federalnego rządu, ogłaszając, że nie będzie w stanie wypełniać swych konstytucyjnych obowiązków. To niszczenie Ameryki poprzez naruszenie swej konstytucyjnej roli.
Koszty ekstremistycznych działań na drodze do radykalnego konserwatyzmu, powodujące paraliż rządu: 1 – 800 tys. pracowników federalnych wysłanych na urlop, 2 – zaprzestanie realizacji przepisów o ochronie środowiska, 3 – zaprzestanie walki z chorobami przez Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 4 – powiększenie deficytu budżetowego, 5 – zawieszenie inspekcji żywności, 6 – zawieszenie dochodzeń Departamentu Pracy w sprawie bezpieczeństwa i higieny pracy, 7 – zamknięcie Parków Narodowych, 9 – negatywna reakcja giełd na niekontrolowaną blokadę pracy rządu.
Znów znaleźliśmy się na niezbadanych wodach bez widoków na zakończenie kryzysu, a do tego za mniej niż dwa tygodnie Kongres stanie przed problemem podwyżki limitu zadłużenia.

GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN
A CNN poll shows that the American people give the U.S. Congress a ten percent approval rating and that was before House Republicans forced a shutdown of the federal government, a promise they made to their constituents prior to their election. Each member of Congress, before taking office, swears to support and defend the U.S. Constitution and to faithfully discharge the duties of their office.
The preamble of the U.S. Constitution states: “We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity . . .” Clearly, by shutting down the government and threatening to default on its bill, the G.O.P. has done the reverse of promoting domestic tranquility and general welfare. It has instead created domestic turmoil and public chaos.
The Constitution defines the authority of each branch of government. The Founding Fathers placed at the top of the powers of Congress to collect taxes, pay bills, and borrow money when necessary. But by their obdurate behavior, Congress shut down the federal government and declared that they will not perform the functions given them in the Constitution. They are damaging America by violating their sworn duty of office.
The cost of extremism in the pursuit of radical conservatism has caused the federal government shutdown: (1) 800,000 federal workers are furloughed; (2) environmental protection regulation will halt; (3) disease monitoring at the Center for Disease Control and Prevent will halt; (4) the budget deficit will get worse; (5) food safety inspections will be suspended; (6) the Labor Department investigation into work place safety will cease; (7) National Parks will close; and (8) the stock market’s adverse reaction to this negative and uncontrolled government closure will be provoked.
We are once again in uncharted waters with no end game in sight and in less than two weeks, Congress will be faced with the issue to raise the debt ceiling.
